Open Book runs over 1000 shared reading and creative writing sessions each year, for a diverse range of community and public participants across Scotland. We work in spaces including libraries, community centres, multicultural projects, healthcare settings, and prisons, to share the enjoyment of reading and use literature as a tool for building community. During relaxed and informal sessions, stories and poems are read aloud, with an Open Book Lead Reader on hand to help guide the discussion. Open Book also runs regular creative writing sessions, using the material the group is reading as inspiration to create new writing.
