Cross Party Groups
Cross party groups (CPGs) in the Scottish Parliament exist as an opportunity for MSPs to meet with external stakeholders to discuss a particular subject. They exist to raise greater awareness about those subjects, but they have no authority within the Parliamentary system. A lot of them have external Secretariats to help organise and minute meetings.
Voluntary Health Scotland
Voluntary Health Scotland is the Secretariat to the Scottish Parliament CPG on Health Inequalities. We – VHS – are completely independent of the Parliament – we are a registered charity whose purpose is to create a healthier, fairer Scotland served by a thriving voluntary health sector.
CPG on Health Inequalities Purpose
The CPG on Health Inequalities has the specific, official purpose as
follows:
The group aims to raise awareness of the causes of health inequalities amongst parliamentarians to influence legislation and amongst policy makers to promote evidence based actions which reduce health inequalities and to avoid legislation and policies which will make health inequalities in Scotland worse.
All upcoming CPG meetings are listed on our events page.
To attend future CPG meetings contact Lauren Blair for more information.
The CPG was involved in the Festival of Politics 2024 at Scottish Parliament, watch the event below:
