Today we shared four proposals for inclusion in the upcoming Programme for Government with key contacts in the Government. These proposals are based on recommendations detailed in our Manifesto for Health Creation and our (IN)VISIBLE Report exploring the relationship between sex, gender, and health.
The Programme for Government has, until this year, been an annual publication detailing the Scottish Government’s priority areas. This year, the Programme for Government is due to be published in September and will set out the Government’s priorities for the next five years.
Our Proposed additions to the Programme for Government are:
- Prioritise health equity as a core cross-cutting government priority, alongside eradicating child poverty, growing the economy, tackling the climate emergency and reforming public services.
- Commit to ensuring that people disproportionately affected by health inequalities have access to a Community Link Worker through their GP practice.
- Commit to develop a targeted Action Plan for understanding and addressing the increasing health inequalities experienced by young adult men.
- Commit to piloting dedicated trans and non-binary health clinics that support inclusive outpatient treatment and screening services.
