During October 2016 and January 2017 the Scottish Government consulted on the New National Health and Social Care Standards.
VHS’s response focused on, what worked well, how well the standards link to existing policy and legislation and what is missing or needs to be improved in the standards.
VHS Response to National Health and Social Care Standards
Here are some responses from our member organisations:
Marie Curie Response to National Health and Social Care Standards
Paths for All Response to National Health and Social Care Standards
SCVO Response to the Health and Social Care Standards
To help inform our response we held an information and discussion session in December. The keynote speaker was Dr Fiona Wardell from Healthcare Improvement Scotland who provided information about the standards as well as the consultation itself, this was followed by a question and answer session and then a round table discussion of some key issues surrounding the standards.
The event was attended by a range of people from large national organisations, social care providers, community organisations, representatives from Integrated Joint Boards as well as a local councillor which made for a very insightful discussion.

There was so much interest surrounding the standards and our event which was oversubscribed that we intend to hold a follow up event once the standards are finally published. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the consultation please contact our Policy Engagement Officer Kiren.Zubairi@vhscotland.org.uk
