Losing a baby changes your life forever. It is a grief that many people struggle to put into words, and one that can often leave parents feeling isolated and misunderstood. Sadly, baby loss affects thousands of families every year, yet many parents still feel they have nowhere to turn for support.
That is why I founded our Baby Loss Retreat Charity.
Our aim is simple: to provide a safe, supportive space where bereaved parents can take time to focus on themselves, connect with others who understand, and begin to navigate life after loss.
When a family loses a baby, the world seems to carry on around them while their own world has stopped. We believe every parent deserves the opportunity to step away from the pressures of everyday life and be surrounded by people who genuinely understand what they are going through.
Our retreats are for anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby. They offer a peaceful environment where parents can rest, reflect, and receive support without judgement.
One of the most important services we provide is access to professional counselling. Grief can be incredibly complex, and there is no right or wrong way to cope. Through our qualified counsellors, parents have the opportunity to talk openly about their experiences in a safe and confidential setting. Counselling can help families work through feelings of sadness, anxiety, trauma, anger, and guilt that often accompany the loss of a baby.
Alongside professional support, we also provide peer support from other bereaved parents. Sometimes, simply talking to someone who has walked a similar path can make a huge difference. Our retreats create opportunities for parents to share their stories, remember their babies, and support one another through their grief. Many families leave knowing they are no longer alone.
We also recognise the importance of looking after emotional and physical wellbeing. Grief affects every part of a person’s life, which is why our retreats include activities designed to encourage relaxation and self-care. These may include mindfulness, gentle walks, meditation, creative activities, and quiet reflection. These moments allow parents to take a breath, slow down, and focus on their own wellbeing for a while.
Baby loss does not only affect mothers and fathers. Partners, siblings, grandparents, and wider family members can all be deeply impacted. We understand that everyone grieves differently, and our retreats aim to support families as a whole. By creating a compassionate and understanding environment, we help families come together, talk openly, and support each other through their journey.
As well as supporting families directly, we are passionate about raising awareness of baby loss. Too many bereaved parents feel that their grief is overlooked or misunderstood. We want to help break the silence, encourage conversations, and ensure that families feel seen, heard, and supported.
Everything we do is made possible through fundraising, donations, and the kindness of our supporters. Every contribution helps us continue providing retreats, counselling, and vital support services to families who need them most.
At the heart of our charity is the belief that no parent should have to face baby loss alone. While we cannot take away the pain of losing a baby, we can offer compassion, understanding, and hope. Most importantly, we can remind parents that their baby’s life matters, their grief matters, and they will always have a place where they are supported and remembered.
