The Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland has three aims:
To advance the professional development of community nurses
We do this in a number of ways including making education grants and hosting regional events around issues of professional interest to community based staff. In recent years this has included health and social care integration and use of technology.
To promote the use of evidence based practice
The Institute supports the generation of new knowledge for practice by funding research projects and the implementation of evidence in practice through innovation grants. You can find project reports here.
To support the welfare of the retired Queen’s Nurses
Those who originally trained as Queen’s Nurses are now retired. The Institute continues to support their fellowship and nursing identity through regular gatherings, in particular each summer in Crieff. We also provide visits to those over 80, who would like a visit, with a network of volunteer visitors. If you know of a retired Queen’s Nurse who is not on our list who would like to stay in touch with QNIS please speak to us on 0131 229 2333.
