This week the Scottish Government announced their Programme of Government for 2024-2025.
“It is reassuring that the First Minister fully understands the detrimental impact of poverty in Scotland and has shown a clear commitment to eradicate the unacceptable levels of child poverty experienced today.
That said, the impact of a reduction in health and social care funding, including a reduction to mental health services, creates significant risk for the most vulnerable in society who are living with health inequalities now.
Without community and Third Sector support, this will inevitably cost more long-term. The Scottish Government is missing the opportunity to recognise the importance and need for a thriving Third Sector and calls for Fair Funding must now be heard and responded to at pace. We are vital.”
