VHS have completed a summary briefing which provides a general overview of the new GP contract for a third sector audience and details the changes to Primary Care and the intended outcomes for health and care in communities as well as the proposed improvement in health of patients.
The briefing discusses the new roles of Primary Care staff including the refocused role of the GP as an ‘expert medical generalist’ as well as development of multidisciplinary teams within GP practices. The briefing also provides an introduction to the “four Cs” of primary care that have acted as a guiding principle throughout the development of the new GP contract and have been described as attributes and qualities patients’ value most in general practice.
