With the lockdown now exacerbating people’s sense of loneliness, Source News spoke to Kiren Zubairi about the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the health and wellbeing of marginalised groups, and the potential for a long-term public health crisis quite apart from that caused by the virus.
In the interview Kiren draws from the recent research conducted by VHS exploring the impact COVID-19 is having on the health and wellbeing of people supported by organisations and on organisations’ own ability to continue supporting people. She also adds context to the issue of loneliness and social isolation based on the VHS report exploring loneliness and social isolation amongst Scotland’s under-represented demographics (BAME, people living in a socio-economically deprived area, people living and working in rural communities, and paid and unpaid carers of people receiving palliative care).
