The Health Policy Officers Network or HPON is a peer support network of Health Policy Officers in small to medium sized organisations who meet to discuss policy issues affecting the voluntary health sector in a supportive environment. VHS and and Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland jointly administer the group.
Some members of the HPON are working together in order to try and influence the Planning (Scotland) Bill by pulling together evidence around ‘place and health’, in order to make recommendations for Stage 2 of the Planning Bill. The member organisations include VHS, Alcohol Focus Scotland, Nourish Scotland, Obesity Action Scotland and Samaritans Scotland.
The group are currently in the process of developing a joint briefing for MSPs to inform them about the relationship between place and health in a bid to strengthen the health and inequalities focus of the Planning Bill.
