The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Bill was published at the beginning of June 2014. The Bill is designed to strengthen and nurture community participation and encourage enterprising community development – and help people to have their voices heard in the planning and delivery of services.
Voluntary Health Scotland has produced the following briefing on the Bill for members – VHS Briefing – Community Empowerment Bill [June 2014]
The full Bill, Policy Memorandum, Explanatory Notes and Delegated Powers Memorandum can be found on the Parliament’s website.
The Parliament’s Local Government and Regeneration (LGR) Committee has now issued a call for written evidence on the Bill – details are on the Committee’s website. The deadline for submitting evidence is Friday 5 September 2014.
Voluntary Health Scotland will be responding to this evidence request. If you would like to discuss the Bill please contact Susan Lowes, Policy and Engagement Officer susan.lowes@vhscotland.org.uk
