Billy McClean is Head of Adult Community Health and Care Services in South Ayrshire where he is responsible for delivering and commissioning health and care services across Learning Disability, Mental Health, Adult and Older People and Primary Care Services. In this role he works with partners to promote healthy behaviours and independence with an increasing focus on prevention, early intervention and health inequalities.
Billy is passionate about the role of the third sector in helping people to stay happy, healthy and independent. He is a dad of two daughters and in his spare time coaches girls rugby and loves supporting helping to build healthy habits and confidence through team sport. In his work as a Trustee of Ayrshire Sportsability (a small local charity supporting those with a disability to participate in and excel at sport) since 2010, he is proud of the work that’s been done to address health inequalities in this area. Billy was previously a Board Member of Voluntary Health Scotland from 2014-2018 and has re-joined with a strengthened understanding of the difference that the third sector within Health and Social Care and is looking forward to enabling the sector to thrive to create a healthier, fairer Scotland.
