Bite Back is looking for passionate young people to join forces with us as they step into Scotland.

I’m Katie, the new Senior Programmes and Policy Manager (Scotland) at Bite Back — and I’ve got some exciting news. We’re stepping into Scotland for the very first time, and we’re looking for young people aged 14-17 to join our Youth Board as young campaigners. If you know a young person who’s got opinions, energy, and an appetite for change (or a healthy dose of righteous rage), this is for them.
Why Scotland, and why now? Because children here are growing up surrounded by a flood of heavily marketed junk food — while 1 in 3 children in Scotland enter primary school on track for food-related illness. With the 2026 Holyrood election closing in, decisions that shape young people’s food environments are being made right now, often without the voices of young Scots.
Representation matters, and we can’t make effective change without lived experience.

That’s where our Youth Board comes in. When young people speak, decision-makers listen differently. Having voices from across Scotland — especially rural communities, including the Highlands and Islands — means policies don’t just work for Londoners, but for young people everywhere.
Being a young campaigner isn’t about being “perfect” or already knowing the system. It’s aboutlearning how change happens — and using your voice to shape it.
Our Youth Board members meet regularly, bring their voices to the forefront of Bite Back’s campaigns, and speak directly to people in power. And they can’t wait to join forces with the young people of Scotland:
As Maya, Youth Board member, says, “I’m pleased that Bite Back is going to elevate more voices, and the lived experiences of young people in Scotland.”
This year, we want the first ever young Scots to join our Youth Board, serving up change as we make our debut north of the border in a crucial election year.
So, share this with any 14-17 year olds you know — your child, pupils, relatives, or young people in your community who’d love to stand up for children’s right to nutritious food in Scotland.
