At the Scottish Community Link Worker Network Annual Conference in May, we featured a panel of GPs and community link workers (CLWs) as part of the conference programme. The panel’s discussion focused on experiences of embedding the community link worker service into general practice. It was evident from the discussion that some CLWs had more positive experiences of this than others.
As a follow-up to this panel session, we wanted to reach out to the Network to find examples of what is working well to enable CLWs to work effectively in general practice. We received lots of responses from across the Network, from CLWs and programme leads, from large and small, urban and rural community link worker programmes. Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. We have collated what everyone has shared into a Good Practice Guide to Embedding CLWs into General Practice with useful examples of resources in the links below from CLW programmes in Orkney, South Ayrshire and Highland as well as the Network’s films from earlier this year.
Please do continue to share with us what works for you in terms of embedding your CLW service into general practice; we would love to include more examples of resources like posters, checklists, videos and CLW handbooks – whatever has worked for you and your service!
Thank you to all the CLW programmes who took the time to provide examples of how they have supported their CLWs to be part of the GP practice teams. Do feel free to share further information with Roisin Hurst SCLWN Project Manager.
