Event Navigation
This partnership event with the Scottish Rural Health Partnership(SRHP) aims to shine a light on health issues distinctive to rural and remote areas in Scotland and to give space to explore collaborative approaches to addressing these issues. Topics likely to be discussed include access to services, stigma, social isolation, loneliness, suicide and an ageing population.
Book your place at the Gathering here.
Karen O’Hanlon from SRHP will open the discussion with a rural health perspective and explain the role of SRHP in sharing knowledge and research about rural health matters. Chaired by Claire Stevens from VHS, our panel members will lead the discussion on their own experiences and organisations work around these issues. Our panel members:
- Jim Hume, Convenor, National Rural Mental Health Forum
- James Jopling, Executive Director for Scotland, Samaritans
- Paul Southworth, Specialty Registrar in Public Health, NHS Health Scotland
- Karen O’Hanlon, Business Development Manager, Scottish Rural Health Partnership
Our event will be informative and include discussion and questions from the audience to establish the key issues and discuss the opportunities for communities in rural settings across Scotland.
