Following on from the pilot project of Children Carers and Second-hand Smoke, ASH Scotland have now secured funding to continue the training workshop throughout Scotland over the next year.
The training is designed to equip workers with knowledge skills and confidence to better support parents/carers to protect children from SHS and provide strategies to assist them.
This training supports the Scottish Governments ‘Take it right outside’ campaign and the GIRFEC principles of helping to keep children safe, healthy, respected and nurtured. The training also fits with protecting children’s rights, improving their life chances and other key outcomes of the Scottish Government Early Years & Child Poverty Strategies.
This workshop is designed for staff, paid or unpaid, whose role involves supporting families with children under five. This will encompass family support workers, befrienders, home/school link workers and early years staff from both voluntary and local authority based organisations. The course is free of charge.
There is one date scheduled in the Edinburgh & Lothian area and another for Forth Valley. They are:
- Thursday 23rd October – ASH Scotland , 8 Frederick Street, Edinburgh
- Tuesday 11th November – Sensory Centre, Redbrae Road, Camelon, Falkirk, FK1 4DD
