Fife’s Community Led Support Annual Report 2024 was recently presented to the Fife Intregration Joint Board. As well as receiving a very enthusiastic reception from the Board, the report also served to highlight the value and impact of the work done by Community Link Workers across Fife.
The Board was shown a video entitled ‘Community led support – building one relationship at a time’, which features interviews with the ‘Link Life Fife’ Link Worker and SCLWN member, Shona Jack, and her client Shane, with whom she has worked and supported through the service.
In the video, Shona highlights the importance of ‘just listening and being honest and consistent about what our service can do’. She stresses that community-led support is genuinely person-centred; what the person says is what matters.
Shane talks openly about his struggles and says of his experience with Shona, ‘it’s a fantastic feeling, it was uplifting. As soon as I started talking, it started to lift’. His advice to others? ‘Don’t be frightened to speak to people, don’t hold it all in.’
