SCLWN Workshop: Working alongside Gypsy/Traveller communities: Opportunities and tensions for CLWs
This session will be centred on how we build trust with Gypsy/Traveller communities, recognising what meaningful health support should look like when Antigypsyism shapes so many encounters.
Drawing on Progress in Dialogue’s recent work on the conditions of safety in help-seeking, mental health, and trauma-informed care, our session will provide a safe space for dialogue and questions. Together we will explore why intersectionality, Antigypsyism and ‘missingness’ matter in healthcare and to the role of a CLW. The session will draw from lived experience and good practice to create an environment where CLW’s can engage meaningfully with the topic, being empowered to bring the knowledge back to their own settings and practice.
