Audit Scotland and General Practice in Scotland
August 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Event Navigation

Join VHS and Audit Scotland at our online event to explore the recent report which focuses on Primary Care pressures and impact for health inequalities and third sector partners.
The report highlights that a Scottish Government agreement with GPs to improve general practice has failed to deliver on several of its commitments. The 2018 General Medical Service (GMS) contract aimed to address the financial pressures and growing workloads facing GPs, and to improve patients’ access to care. However, seven years on:
- the estimated number of whole-time equivalent GPs has fallen
- pressure on general practice has increased
- proposals to support GP teams with more nurses, physiotherapists and other specialists have moved more slowly than planned
- and people report finding it more difficult to access care.
Audit Scotland will present on the key messages and recommendations from the general practice performance audit, and an outline of findings relating to inequalities. This event will be of interest to VHS members and members of the Scottish Community Link Worker Network.
Presenters:
