DESCRIPTION:This Anti-Racism Guidance workshop\, hosted in collaboration with CEMVO Scotland\, aims to empower participants to be anti-racist and to be an effective ally. We will: \n\nRefresh our understanding of human rights and anti-racism key principles – some basic prior knowledge will be assumed.\nDevelop tools for change through spheres of influence and practising an anti-racist mindset.\nAs a group: Identify how the anti-racism guidance will be used\, the audience\, and the key themes to achieve our outcomes.\nAgree on next steps in co-creating the guidance.\n\nPrior to this session\, we’ll send out an MS Form to ask participants to reflect on what they’d like out of the anti-racism guidance and use these ideas to shape our discussions. DESCRIPTION:SCLWN Workshop: Working alongside Gypsy/Traveller communities: Opportunities and Tensions for CLWs \nThis session will be centred on how we build trust with Gypsy/Traveller communities\, recognising what meaningful health support should look like when Antigypsyism shapes so many encounters. \nDrawing on Progress in Dialogue’s recent work on the conditions of safety in help-seeking\, mental health\, and trauma-informed care\, our session will provide a safe space for dialogue and questions. Together we will explore why intersectionality\, Antigypsyism and ‘missingness’ matter in healthcare and to the role of a CLW. The session will draw from lived experience and good practice to create an environment where CLW’s can engage meaningfully with the topic\, being empowered to bring the knowledge back to their own settings and practice. \nJoin Progress in Dialogue to explore working meaningfully with one of Scotland’s least understood and most marginalised communities. \nAbout Progress in Dialogue \nWe are a grassroots organisation working to improve the lives of marginalised communities across Scotland. The session will include awareness of selfcare ideas to maintain your own wellbeing as well as discussion some resources that you can also share with your clients. The objectives of the session include experiencing a mindfulness practice\, the opportunity to share challenges to selfcare with your peers and address these challenges. You will also hear about some tools to support your selfcare and we will undertake a reflective activity creating your own jigsaw lid for wellbeing. \nMore information and book your place here.

SUMMARY:SCLWN Programme Leads Event - Whole Family Support Through General Practice Project
DESCRIPTION:Inequalities in child health outcomes are widening in Scotland. A significant number of families experience poverty\, isolation\, poor mental health\, neurodevelopmental conditions and significant stress. Many face barriers in accessing the resources and support they need from a complex\, fragmented system of services with high thresholds and limited capacity. This results in unmet needs\, crisis presentations\, and continued negative impacts on wellbeing that risk being embedded across the life course. \nThe Whole Family Support through General Practice Project  is an initiative where Family Wellbeing Workers (FWWs) provide holistic support to families experiencing\, or at risk of\, poverty\, trauma and neurodevelopmental difficulties. \nThe Whole Family Support through General Practice (WFSGP) intervention is one of several projects supported by the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund (£500m between 2022-2026)\, but the only one based in primary care. \nThis session will be led by Suzanne Niven\, Health Improvement Manager\, NHS GGC and David Blane\, Senior Clinical Lecturer in General Practice and Primary Care\, University of Glasgow and Scottish Deep End Project. \nFind out more and book your place. \nPlease contact Roisin Hurst if you have any questions about this event.
