SUMMARY:Insight to Impact: Third Sector Data as a Catalyst for Change - VHS AGM Event
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we showcase third sector organisations as a unique and under-utilised source of health data at our AGM event. \nVHS members generate an incredible amount of evidence and insight into the causes and possible solutions for addressing health inequalities in Scotland. They provide unique and innovative analysis of national health datasets\, gather impact data about what creates health\, as well as undertaking important qualitative and quantitative research. Despite this\, evidence from the third sector is often undervalued by Scottish decision-makers. \nThis event will shine a spotlight on the rich data and insight generated by our members. We’ll also explore how third sector data could be better used by decision-makers\, including policy makers\, funders and politicians\, to bring about lasting change. \nThis event will include a short AGM meeting with the opportunity to briefly hear about Voluntary Health Scotland’s achievements in 2024-2025. VHS members will have the opportunity to participate in voting for new Board Members and special resolutions. \nRegister to attend! \nThe AGM Papers\nAGM Agenda\nDraft Minutes VHS AGM Nov 2024\nProxy Vote Form\nNominations for Board of Directors and Voting process\nSpecial Resolution\nVHS 2024 – 2025 Annual Report and Accounts

SUMMARY:Policy Event: Your Views on the National Performance Framework
DESCRIPTION:Do you have views on how the Scottish Government should be measuring progress on wellbeing\, and how it should be held to account? If you answered ‘yes’\, this event could be for you! \nThe Scottish Government are currently seeking views on the National Performance Framework (NPF) ahead of planned reforms after the Scottish Parliament election in May. \nThe NPF was established in 2007 as Scotland’s central wellbeing framework. It was designed to communicate and measure progress against the vision for the kind of Scotland we aspire to live in. The framework currently defines 11 National Outcomes\, which describe the desired societal\, economic\, and environmental conditions in Scotland. \nJoin us to share your views on what the Scottish Government should be measuring in the NPF\, and how the National Outcomes should be used for both decision-making and policy scrutiny. \nSign up here!

SUMMARY:HPON Meeting: Election 2026 Debrief
DESCRIPTION:This in-person meeting of the Health Policy Officers Network (HPON) we’ll discuss the results of the 2026 election \, including the implications for health policy and the role of the third sector. \nThe 2026 election is widely predicted to cause a seismic shift in Scottish politics\, with many current MSPs standing down and new political parties rising in popularity. There are a number of political priorities likely to straddle the election\, including the Assisted Dying Bill and the Human Rights Bill as well as commitments made in 2025 to public service reform and a shift to prevention in health. \nThis meeting provides a chance to analyse the implications of the results and to explore joint opportunities for ensuring that health is at the top of the agenda for new and returning MSPs and Ministers.

SUMMARY:Third Sector Health Creation Marketplace
DESCRIPTION:This unique event\, sponsored by Paul McLennan MSP\, will take place in the Garden Lobby and provides a valuable opportunity to engage with Members of the Scottish Parliament\, health and policy decision-makers in Scotland\, as well as other third sector representatives. \nIn a period of considerable change and reform in our health landscape\, including an ambitious shift towards a more prevention-centred health system\, this event provides a unique opportunity for MSPs and policymakers to learn more about the vital contribution of the third sector to health creation in Scotland. It also provides a fantastic opportunity for third sector organisations to connect with one another. Join us for what promises to be a vibrant\, informative and engaging event in the centre for Scottish democracy. \nThere will be a variety of ways for members to engage with stakeholders at this event. Seven stalls and ten 60-second spotlight sessions will be allocated through an application process. If you’re a VHS member and interested in applying please get in touch as the deadline to apply is by 5pm on Friday 6th November. Those organisations who are successful in securing a stall or spotlight session will be notified by Thursday 12th November. \nIf members do not secure a stall or spotlight session\, there will still be plenty of opportunities to engage with key stakeholders at the event. Representatives from VHS and the VHS Health Policy Officers Network will facilitate networking opportunities. There is also the option to include a PowerPoint slide for a presentation that will be displayed on a loop throughout the event. \nJoin us for what promises to be a vibrant\, informative and engaging event in the centre for Scottish democracy. \nDeadline to sign up is end of day Friday\, November 13th. \nPlease get in touch with the VHS Team if you’d like to attend. \n  \n
