SUMMARY:Valuing and Sustaining Volunteering in Health Conference
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nValuing and Sustaining Volunteering in Health \nTuesday 14 May 2019 \nThe Studio\, 67 Hope Street\, Glasgow \n****FULLY BOOKED**** \nThis full-day conference will explore good practice in volunteering where it is delivered by NHS and third sector working together. The focus will be primarily on volunteering in NHS settings\, in particular hospitals. We aim to raise the profile of volunteering in health\, celebrate what works well\, be open and honest about issues and challenges\, and look to the future of volunteering in both hospitals and the wider community. \nView the conference agenda \nSpeakers announced: \n\nConference Chair: Paul Okroj\,  Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland\nJoe Fitzpatrick MSP\, Minister for Public Health\, Sport and Wellbeing\nAlan Bigham\, Healthcare Improvement Scotland\nMatthew Linning\,  Volunteer Scotland\nSandie Dickson\, The State Hospital\nClaire Stevens\, Voluntary Health Scotland\nMaggie Byers-Smith\, NHS Lothian\nRob Murray\, Cancer Support Scotland\nHelen Webster\, Scottish Government\nSusan Brown\, Marie Curie\nStuart McLellan\, Scottish Ambulance Service\nAlison Bunce\, Compassionate Inverclyde\nTracey Passway\, NHS Tayside\nHelena Buckley\, NHS Forth Valley\nRosemary Fletcher\, RSVP/Volunteering Matters\n\nThe conference is now fully booked up- you can join the waiting list here \nThe event will: \n\nPromote and foster a greater understanding and appetite for collaboration between NHS and third sector in relation to volunteering\nExplore how NHS and third sector could work together to build on their existing expertise\, experience and innovation in volunteering in order to meet new and emerging health and care challenges that lie beyond hospital wards and in our communities.\nDiscuss the gaps in our knowledge about the extent and nature of third sector volunteers in health and how these could be addressed. Consider how our understanding about volunteering in health is informed by social data like case studies and lived experience as well as by statistical data.\nAsk whether the Clear Pathway guidance is supporting more joined up systems and processes and reduced duplication\, and ask whether there are any gaps in the guidance\nDiscuss what needs done strategically and practically to develop volunteering for health and care in communities themselves\, ie using volunteers to help keep people well\, connected\, befriended\, and able to stay happily in their own homes for longer.\nProvide an excellent CPD opportunity for NHS staff and third sector participants.\n\nThis event is supported by the Scottish Government\, enabling us to offer all places to public and third sector delegates free of charge. \nWe have a small number of exhibition stands available at the conference:  Exhibit at the Valuing Volunteering in Health Conference \nIf you have any questions about the event\, please get in touch with Lauren Blair.
