SUMMARY:Public Health Round Table with ScotPHN
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the round table is to provide an opportunity for the Scottish Public Health Network (ScotPHN) and voluntary health organisations to understand each other better and explore areas of shared interest in public health. \nThe discussion will encourage engagement and collaboration between ScotPHN and the voluntary health sector. As part of the discussion\, it will explore three forthcoming areas of ScotPHN work: gender re-assignment\, opthamology\, and chronic pain. \nParticipants will be able to discuss what would be a useful project for ScotPHN to undertake from a voluntary health perspective. \n About the Scottish Public Health Network: ScotPHN is open to everyone in Scotland who has a professional interest and significant involvement in the wider public health agenda\, including staff from the NHS\, local authorities\, academia and others. Participation in ScotPHN is centred round specific projects which will involve multiple organisations and disciplines. The work programme is generated from the public health community in Scotland. \nAims of ScotPHN: \n\nTo undertake prioritised national pieces of work where there is a clearly identified need.\nTo facilitate information exchange between public health practitioners\, link with other networks and share learning.\nTo create effective communication amongst professionals and the public to allow efficient co-ordination of public health activity.\nTo support and enhance the capabilities and functionality of the Scottish Directors of Public Health Group.\n\nWe have limited space available at this event\, please get in touch with Lauren Blair if you wish to attend. \nThe meeting will be co-chaired by Claire Stevens\, Voluntary Health Scotland and Ann Conacher\, ScotPHN. \nRound Table Agenda\n \n\nPublic health – changing landscape – setting the context\nWhat is ScotPHN\, what does it do and how does it to it?\nVoluntary health sector – what is its involvement in public health and how does it do it?\nScotPHN work programme – three new areas: Gender re-assignment\, opthamology and chronic pain\nReflections on key learning for ScotPHN and voluntary sector\nNext steps\n\n
