SUMMARY:What more can public services do to reduce inequalities in Scotland?
DESCRIPTION:Social Justice and tackling inequality are top of the agenda. We know that our public services need to adapt and both the Christie Commission and Smith Commission give us a framework for how. Within this context\, how do we retain the best of our universal services while also supporting them to combat inequality?   We have not succeeded so far.  What more needs to be done to introduce principles of progressive universalism and succeed in reducing inequality? \nJim McCormick\, Scotland Director for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation\, will lead discussion on how we can shape and influence public services in Scotland to reduce inequality. \nRoundtable seminar:  What can more can public services do\, and what mechanisms can we use\, to reduce significantly inequalities in Scotland? \nDate: 21st January 2015  \nTime: 1.30pm – 4.30pm \nLocation: Children in Scotland\, Rosebery House\, Edinburgh \nThis is an by invitation only seminar organised by Children in Scotland\, ACOSVO and VHS. It forms part of the three organisations’ Equal Partners collaboration\, which is supported by the Scottish Government. \nWe have a strictly limited number of places available beyond those offered already to invited participants\, so please contact Kirsty Brown if you are interested in attending and contributing. \n
