I have worked for 19 years in the voluntary sector, with my first job at Stoke-on-Trent CVS setting up an advocacy service for people with physical and sensory disabilities. I moved to Scotland in 1998 and have worked at Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council (EVOC) on a number of projects including Development Worker with the Voluntary Sector Participation Unit (VSPU) and the EVOC services to communities in the Liberton/Gilmerton Neighbourhood Partnership area.
I spent a year seconded to the Compliance & Investigations Team at the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) in Dundee between 2009 and 2010.
Today at EVOC I am Deputy Chief Executive managing external-facing workstreams delivered by our very capable colleagues. Other duties at EVOC include leading on Community Transport, and Older People’s services – both areas impacting on health and wellbeing. I also occasionally deliver governance and compliance support training and work with individual organisations.
I have been a Director on several Boards over the years and locally to my home I have previously been secretary of my local Community Centre.
